As the popularity of supplements grows, manufacturers are lauding their goods disease-prevention capabilities without the research to back up their claims, according to a recent study published in the September 17 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.
There are regulations prohibiting companies from linking a product to a disease without being tested for safety and being approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration. Many scientists think that if herbal supplements are marketed to the public as treatments for diseases, they should be regulated the same way drugs are. Remember, just because something is herbal doesnt make it gentle and safe.
