Bob's Believe It or Not?
Can you believe that fruit-flavored yogurt and ice cream have almost the same amount of sugar? Per four-ounce serving, the yogurt has about 21 grams of sugar and the ice cream has about 23 grams.

If you live in a metropolitan area you probably walk to nearby shops and restaurants on a regular basis. You might not need, or have, a car. No wonder a new study in The Science of Health Promotion found that people who live in compact counties, like those around New York City and San Francisco, walked 80 minutes more each month and weigh about six pounds less than those who live in spread-out communities.

Residents of sprawling suburban areas are heavier, weigh more and have higher blood pressure. That’s because they tend to drive everywhere—and likely scour parking lots for the spot closest to their destinations.

So, if you live in a sprawling community—the highest levels of sprawl in the country are Goochland County near Richmond, Virginia and Geauga County near Cleveland, Ohio—recognize the risk to your health. Choose to walk or ride a bike whenever you can. Consciously park as far from your destination as is safe, take the stairs instead of elevators and escalators and make a point to fit regular exercise in to your life.
